You and the seller agreed on a price. Now the bank wants a second opinion.

Travis Wright here, with eXp Realty. That second opinion is the appraisal. Your lender hires a licensed appraiser to make sure the home is worth what you're borrowing. They look at the home and compare it to similar homes that recently sold nearby.

Most of the time it comes in right where it should. But if it comes in low, you've got options. We can ask the seller to lower the price. We can split the difference. You can cover the gap with cash. Or, depending on your contract, you may be able to walk away.

It's one of those things that sounds scary but usually isn't, as long as somebody's watching out for you. That's my job.

If there are any homes you'd like to see, just reply with the word HOMES, and I'll set up a showing.
